Welcome to our walk along Lichtentaler Allee out to/from the monastery of the same name. Let us stroll together through one of the most beautiful park landscapes in Europe! Dear guests, I will tell you all sorts of interesting and amusing facts about the town.

We are here in the spa gardens. Let’s take a look around: from here you have a marvellous view of our local mountain, the Merkur. To the left is the Florentinerberg with the New Palace. In the distance you can see the mighty ruins of Hohenbaden Castle, which was the seat of the Margraves of Baden from the 11th to the 15th century.

And here in the Oos valley lies the Lichtentaler Allee – the lifeline of the “summer capital of Europe”, as Baden-Baden was dubbed in its day! In 2005, the people of Baden-Baden celebrated the 350th birthday of their centrepiece with a magnificent festival.

It was Moritz von Lassolaye, a chamberlain of the famous Türkenlouis, who had the avenue laid out – and during its long history since the Baroque period, it was later extensively landscaped as a 19th century English landscape park.

Even today, the avenue has lost none of its nobility and elegance!
